Redesigning a company's website within the confines of the brief and existing branding parameters.

Role and expectations
Due to the limited time frame during this work experience, my role was to provide insight into what investing in the company’s digital presence could look like and the benefit it could yield. Because of this, I was tasked with updating the look and structure of the monthly newsletter as well as providing a concept for a website redesign
Research
Investigations into the structure of information and look of similar water sport companies was carried out, as well as an interview with a member of staff at Canoe Wild to fully understand their desires as a company. This provided the basis of my decision making going into the conception phase.
Ideation and concept
As this project was only a proposal for a concept and there were time constraints, only the home page needed to be made. Additionally, the design needed to work with the existing branding, feel and logo which provided some limitations to be aware of when designing.
Design and execution
Wireframing: Planned the structure of the website using wireframes to filter the content to what would need to be included on the home page and plan the user flow.
Prototyping: Used advanced features in Figma to create a fully functional prototype of the home page that could be used to communicate the website further than the flat frame. This was integral and done to a high quality as it was the final stage of the design.
Results
The company took the website design and are still aiming for an update to their digital presence. They still use the newsletter structure and creation process that I developed for them and found my contribution to give beneficial insight into their next steps moving forward.

Reflections
This project was an invaluable opportunity to apply UX/UI design principles in a real-world setting, contributing to a product that promotes social connectivity and culinary exploration. It challenged me to think creatively about how to meet user needs and preferences, enhancing my skills in research, design, and collaboration. The experience underscored the importance of user feedback in the design process and the impact of thoughtful design on user engagement and satisfaction.
